Last August, I swore up and down that the Seattle Seahawks would start to prove their detractors wrong, and show everyone what they were made of by playing in the NFC Championship game and losing to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Much to my pleasant surprise, I was wrong.

As a Washington native and a diehard football fan, it's truly impossible to say the sentence "The Seattle Seahawks are in the Superbowl" - much less write it and have it stored in a semi-permanent venue - and have any real understanding of the gravity of what that means. However, I think it's a credit to our versatility as longtime fans to be able to get ourselves accustomed to it.

Today, this February 5th, all I have to say is "Go Seahawks."

In my opinion, writing (and, hopefully, to a certain extent, reading) this entry is a welcome distraction for how crappy life has been lately. Thank you, Seahawks, for distracting me from the trainwreck that is my existence, at least for a few weeks.
