Three days ago, as I was leaving for work at 5:30 in the morning, I saw blood in front of my apartment building, in a pool on the front steps and continuing down the sidewalk in incriminating drops. I was a little shocked, but I assumed that it was a bloody nose or something inconsequential, since I heard no sirens or anything of the sort. I ignored the blood puddle and walked to work.

When I came home, it had congealed into a black mass, like a zombie sat there for a respite and had left a buttprint.

<...>

Today, while I was watching the NFL Draft, my roommate Dan was playing poker online - as is his wont - when he got a message...instantly.

Some guy got stabbed in front of your apartment?

...What?

Dan proceeds to hear a story relayed to him about how the blood got on our steps: a Boston Globe delivery man got stabbed there at 5:00 AM, robbed blind, and had his car stolen. He survived and told someone, certainly why we heard about this through the grapevine; if there were a corpse, I would've seen it prostrate on the steps on my way to work.

The suspect was six feet tall, 195 pounds, dressed in a black jogging suit and a Boston Red Sox baseball cap. Not exactly a damning description, or specific. As soon as I can find the press release, I'll post it.

And so, the blood.

That's a story not to tell Mom.

Anyway, Boston is great. Thought I should tell you all.
